With Summer’s greetings come the promises to go adrift, navigating by sight in our own oceanic thoughts, at the mercy of the strongest fantasies, those that kick in hardest when the sun sets. To celebrate this year’s seasonal pause, we turned to painter Louisa Gagliardi, and asked her to conjure the emblem of 2025’s sun-bathed destinations. She slapped a puffed-up prayer over her Sunbather, seemingly laying down on cool bathroom tiles, but facing toward the sun, caught in a rêverie between chill and bliss.
